Pune: Mission Arthritis India (MAI) organized its National Patients’ Convention on the theme “Bone & Joint Health” at The Poona Club, bringing together patients, caregivers, and doctors for a day dedicated to awareness, education, and patient empowerment.
The Mission Arthritis India initiative focused on strengthening patient awareness about arthritis, preventive care, and lifestyle management while encouraging dialogue between healthcare professionals and patients.
The convention organized by Mission Arthritis India featured several expert sessions that highlighted various aspects of bone and joint health. Chief Guest Dr Vaishali Deshmukh, an endocrinologist, emphasized the importance of overall physical and mental health along with effective lifestyle management in preventing joint-related disorders.
The event hosted by Mission Arthritis India included insightful sessions by leading experts such as Dr Nachiket Kulkarni, Consultant Rheumatologist; Dr Arvind Chopra, Director and Chief Rheumatologist at the Centre for Rheumatic Diseases (CRD); Dr Apoorva M. Sangoram; and Dr Ravinder Kaur.

Mission Arthritis India: Experts Address Multiple Dimensions of Arthritis Management
The experts addressed multiple dimensions of arthritis management, prevention strategies, and patient care.
Deepa Mehta, Chairperson of Mission Arthritis India, briefed the audience about the organization’s ongoing initiatives and its continued efforts to support individuals living with arthritis.
She highlighted the importance of community awareness, education programs, and patient support networks being promoted by Mission Arthritis India.
The welcome address was delivered by Shweta Kulkarni, Secretary of Mission Arthritis India, followed by the release of the MAI souvenir.
The convention organized by Mission Arthritis India featured discussions on several key topics including bone and joint health, posture and ergonomics for healthy joints, and the role of traditional Indian diet and nutrition in managing arthritis.
A major highlight of the MAI convention was the presentation of three honours recognizing contributions in the field of arthritis awareness and patient care.

The Late Shri P. C. Nahar Oration Award was presented to Dr Nachiket Kulkarni, while the Late Shri Haribhau Rathiji Vata Viruddha Yodha Award was conferred on Rani Parasnis. The CRD Vata Viruddha Award was presented to Arvind Jagtap.
The Mission Arthritis India event concluded with an Open Forum session where patients interacted directly with doctors.
Participants shared their experiences and sought medical guidance, reinforcing the organization’s objective of patient empowerment and improved awareness about arthritis and joint health.
